This Aerodrome Wildlife Hazard Management training program was developed for aerodrome operators and Aerodrome personnel since birds and other wildlife are a serious hazard to aircraft. The course outlines what can and should be done to address this hazard and implement a successful WHMP (Wildlife Hazard Management plan).

The course was developed in accordance with ICAO Doc 9137 – Airport Services manual – Part 3 – 5th Edition 2020.

The course will provide information on:

  • Organizational structures that may effectively manage wildlife hazard control. 
  • The evolution of the wildlife hazard.
  • Examples of significant wildlife strikes. 
  • Why wildlife hazards occur at an aerodrome. 
  • The roles and responsibilities of stakeholders involved in wildlife hazard control.
  • Modifications to be carried out at an aerodrome to remove the features which attract wildlife.
  • Wildlife Hazard Reporting and Data Collection and Risk Assessment.

The use of cell phones during training is frowned upon (discouraged).  If you are ‘on call’,  please put your phone on ‘silent’ on your desk and leave the room to take the call.  Courses held at Cranfield are all interactive and your instructor will encourage participation, where appropriate. We provide a light lunch between courses which is included in the price, is not compulsory and you are welcome to bring your own if you have dietary challenges (preferences). We have delegates from all over our continent with different beliefs, dress codes, and everyone is very welcome.
