English Language Proficiency
Course Overview
Course Duration: 2 Hours.
Price: R1350 Per Person.
English proficiency testing as per the ICAO regulations, is applicable to air traffic control personnel and flight crews involved in flight operations in airspace where English is required, and is designed to ensure ATCs and Flight Crews are capable of conducting and comprehending radiotelephony telecommunications in English. Regulations require tests to be conducted by two interviewers, including an Aviation Expert and an English expert who will rate you English Proficiency in the following 6 competencies:
- Pronunciation
- Structure
- Vocabulary
- Fluency
- Comprehension
- Interactions
Target Learners
This course is applicable to: Pilots and ATC’s requiring an ELP (English Language Proficiency) Rating.
Delivery Methods
The Test Duration is between 30 Minutes and 1 hour per candidate. Please note that some Tests may take a few minutes less and some may take a few minutes more. Candidates shall be required to wait approximately 20 minutes for the processing of their test results Two Testers in a face-to-face interview with the candidate. All tests must be recorded and kept on record by the ATO for a period of 5 years.

The use of cell phones during training is frowned upon (discouraged). If you are ‘on call’, please put your phone on ‘silent’ on your desk and leave the room to take the call. Courses held at Cranfield are all interactive and your instructor will encourage participation, where appropriate. We provide a light lunch between courses which is included in the price, is not compulsory and you are welcome to bring your own if you have dietary challenges (preferences). We have delegates from all over our continent with different beliefs, dress codes, and everyone is very welcome.
